Meet Austin

A few days ago Simon was talking about having dolls in his dolls house, on his excellent Miniature Enthusiast blog. I decided early on that I wasn't going to have dolls in my Georgian house, but as I filled the house, I felt it needed something to bring a little life into it. I went along to Kensington last year, thinking I would get a dog for the library, or maybe a mouse for the pantry. Cats had crossed my mind, but I hadn't seen any I really liked before. When I saw this cat I fell for him immediately, he has a cheeky expression and looks like he's about to jump up for some tasty morsel on the kitchen table! For a while he was just called Cat, like Holly's in Breakfast at Tiffany's, but I felt he did deserve a name, and he is now called Austin, in honour of Jane of course!

  1. Being a cat person, I'm very impressed with Austen and thanks for the link - there's not much chance of me getting there in person.

  2. Austin is adorable! I have two 'rl' dogs & one cat, but no pets in Merriman Park, (yet)!

  3. It is always sad news to me, seeing a doll house without inhabitants. Given that I do to dress dolls, that is very encouraging ... But your cat Austen is a true marvel! Congratulations, is a great buy!!

  4. Thaks Irene, he's certainly a perky little fellow isn't he! I hope the Dolls House website gets going fully soon too, it's not an unrealistic drive from here, but would still take a good couple of hours.

  6. Gracias Pedrete.

Thanks Pedrete. I think when I started on my dolls house I was put off by the dolls that were available. They ones available comercially just don't cut the mustard, but having seen some of the dolls created at the dolls house exhibitions, I have thought more about having some for my new dolls house project I am working on

  7. Hi Andy! I haven't been working on Merriman Park too much --it's been like a second Summer here in Minnesota. (You have to enjoy it while you can, because the Winters are unbearably long)!

I was looking online for dolls, last night...let us know if you discover an exceptional resource for them!

  11. Just spend an hour at your blog, very interesting and your house is really amazing. You are now in the room,I like mostly, the kitchen. The cat looks cute, like being hungry. So add some more food,I think it's the important part in the kitchen;-)! But I agree with Pedrete ,with kitchen staff it will come alive.Jeannette
